I started using Canon cameras when Canon switched to digital. Before that I used a Nikon F3. With my Canon cameras I sometimes use some of the Nikon lenses I had, including a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4. You can buy a relatively cheap PhotoDiox adapter with a Canon mount to Nikon or any other manual lens.
