This looks like fun! I stumbled on it via Groupon, I have never heard of it before.

The Pittsburgh Challenge urban adventure race is coming to the Steel City on Saturday, June 18th!

The Challenge is a ridiculously fun “Amazing Race” style competition packed into one incredible day. Teams of two or more will dash around the city, racing against other Challengers for immortal glory (and cash prizes!) as they solve tricky clues, strategize the best route, and explore undiscovered corners of the city.

There is a website, but my IPad will get angry with me and delete all of my previous words if I exit to search for it! I am pretty sure you all know how to Google!

The Henne Diamond Dash was this past weekend, where entry was free, you were allowed bikes, and the top prize was a $15,000 diamond ring.

This contest is sponsored by Challenge Nation(?), charges a $53.74 entry fee ($20 with the Groupon), and has a top prize of $200? Am I reading that right? Sounds like a ripoff to me, especially compared to what John Henne has put together the past 2 years.

I never thought of it as a profit/compare issue. I just thought it looked like fun and a lot of new people are looking for things to do.

I personally am not involved nor going, just looked like fun.

I guess I see it as more of a competition thing where the most important part is the prize at the end. In that respect, paying $50+ just to win $200 isn't worth it in my books.

But I can see where you're coming from, events like this and the Diamond Dash are really a wonderful way to experience downtown. By participating in the diamond dashes, I've learned so many new things about the city, and even discovered Franktuary, which has become one of my favorite lunch spots in the city. And after spending a Saturday afternoon running through the various parks, plazas, and building lobbies, I had a new perspective of downtown as I was waiting for my bus Monday morning.

I'm sure this challenge will give people the same kind of exposure to our city, which is wonderful. But to those like me who are more interested in games with higher stakes, I encourage you to enter next years Henne Diamond Dash.
