I am a student moving from Atlanta to begin my residency at UPMC in the city. I would like to find a condo in the area. (preferably in the city) The University of Pittsburgh offers suggestions for apartments, but I want to purchase since I will be here for a while. Do any of the Universities in Pittsburgh offer help finding housing or should I contact a real estate agent?

Contact a real estate agent. I think Pitt has some kind of deal with Howard Hanna, a large local real estate agency. I know that some universities subsidize new faculty (not usually residents/post-docs/grad students) buying houses in nearby areas either because the cost of real estate is so high OR because the neighborhoods near the university are not desirable (different problems; similar solution). In Pittsburgh, the cost of housing is relatively low and the East End areas near Pitt are relatively desirable, so Pitt hasn't seen the need for this kind of program, I suppose.
