I don't need it for this summer, but starting next summer I will need to find a summer day camp for my daughter, who will be 6/entering first grade by then (and later on, my son too). We work full-time so a full-day option would be best. Any suggestions on specific camps or how to find one would be welcome. A google search turned up a few options, but not as many as I expected and details were sparse. Mostly I am looking for well-rounded fun and lots of sports/outdoor activities, including swimming. The JCC day camp looked nice, but the hours were short (9-3:30).

Thanks!

P.S. Location would need to be in/near the East End.

I'm pretty positive JCC has before and after camp care. Give them a call.

Here is the form from last year with some details (I'm not sure why more information isn't available online--I agree you should call to confirm, and report back!):

This parent manual from last year has additional information. I assume it will be the same in the future, but again that might be worth confirming. But as of last year, you could start with a dropoff as early as 7:30, and pickup as late as 6:00 (if you signed up for the after-care program):

Although the J&R camp from the JCC does sound perfect given what you told us, if you at least want another option, Chatham also has a day camp with an extended day option:

Music and Arts Day Camp - Shadyside Campus | Chatham University, Pittsburgh, PA

The focus is music and arts, but they also have a pool and do sports.

Chatham by a longshot. It's a wonderful program and they do have after- and before-camp care.

We were very pleased last summer with the Shadyside Academy Summer Day Camp, which runs for 6 weeks in June and July. It is at the Shadyside Academy senior school out in Fox chapel but they bus from the East End. Swimming everyday and lunch was included.

From talking to other parents, it seems like the JCC camp provides the most coverage for the summer. Between camp, before care, after care and the clubhouse (?) program at the JCC, I think very few days are not covered.

Since you are looking at this for next summer, you should be aware that some camps offer discounts if you commit early. Shadyside Academy is 10% off if you book by Jan 31. JCC may offer something similar.
