Based on traffic to zumper listings. *dismissive wanking motion*

Surprising. I didn't know renters were chomping at the bit to find rentals in Marshall-Shadeland. Maybe PreservationPioneer should turn his city home into a rental?

Oddly enough. Recently a young guy drove down my street and waved me to talk to him. Thought he was lost. He asked me if I was aware of any apartments up for rent. I forget where he was coming from but he was looking to live closer to work.

Any list of "hot neighborhoods" which has Knoxville as the #4 ranking is using dodgy metrics at best.

Rounding out the top five are Knoxville, whose renters are drawn to “rows of once beautiful Victorian-styled homes now with broken windows and bullet holes, falling off rotted porches and sketchy neighbors”

I think that is a little more accurate than the original quote.

Maybe not all potential renters are of a priveleged background and need an affordable apartment off campus or near their down town job. I sometimes forget about the closeted attitudes around here. I lived in more than a couple apartments the average city data poster wouldn't last two weeks in. Not all of us can start out in trendy areas with walkable amenities and other desirable descriptors.

Exactly right and is what's being said. Those areas are not the "hot hoods" that the writer is saying they are.

the article makes marshall shadeland and knoxville sound to be on par with shadyside and lawrenceville. I sympathize with all levels of income and situations. Growing up poor in the marshall shadeland area myself, I have seen some rough situations first hand, and have also lived in questionable housing. But hey, I guess for me not thinking this article has any validity, I'm somehow harboring hate towards lower income individuals?
