My employer has catered food for our monthly company meetings.
Usually there's a lot of leftover.
Is there a place in between North Shore / downtown Pittsburgh, and Cranberry where we can donate the food to?

Usually food banks & churches ask for non-perish food / cans, so I don't think they'd take our leftover food...

In highschool I worked in a restaurant, the food banks and homeless shelters would not take any extra food from us because they could not guarantee the way the food was handled or prepared. That is why restaurants and grocery stores discard there food.

You could just try to scale back how much you order; avoiding leftovers by not ordering them in the first place. A plus is you save the company money.

Thank you all for the replies.
I can understand and appreciate the rules to only accept unprepared food, but it's just a shame to see all these food go into waste.

In case 412foodrescue doesn't accept boxed food either, is there a spot where the homeless like to hang out, where I can just leave the food there, so that they can take it?

When I was in the union working night shifts we would order extra pizzas for ourselves and give them to the homeless in the little park by the amtrack station. It is next to the federated investors building. There is also a large homeless population in the park across the street from agh.

Yes -- just to add a little more detail -- there is a shelter called Light of Life near AGH, right by the Crazy Mocha at the corner of North and Federal. The Salvation Army sometimes sets up a food truck across the street in the park and gives away free lunches. I'm sure if someone brought boxed lunches to this area there would be people hanging around the shelter who would be interested.
