Moby Hick, interesting choice in Chateau, since it is now largely just industrial (save for Rivers Casino). I'd be curious to hear your reasoning.

sparrowmint, what do you like about Greenfield and Mt. Washington?

Why do so many like Fairywood?

^ This. A run would definitely be in my future. A victory? Not necessarily. I have no interest in raising six-figures to "buy" an election for a job that I'd do for pure love of the city and wanting to help improve it. I also have no interest in kissing the arses of committee members to gain endorsements. I want no part in "owing" anyone anything to get elected, and I don't want my legacy (if I were to win) to crash and burn like Mayor Ravenstahl's reputation due to the ongoing police department scandal. I'd rather run on a grass-roots platform, spending money out-of-pocket to print off flyers and brochures and go door-to-door to talk to people face-to-face (darn, that's a lot of hyphens for one sentence!) I happen to like Bill Peduto, for example, but I don't think he should win ONLY because he outspends or out-schmoozes his competitors. He should win based upon his own merit. If I were to run I'd detail anything and everything I'd have planned on my campaign web site, dominate in debates, and rely on networking with my peers via social media as pivotal ways to receive a seat on council.

I actually greatly admire the Republican from Squirrel Hill who is running for mayor, knowing he's not going to win, simply to give the city's 2 Republicans a choice. Talk about being civic-minded!

I thought so. I personally call it "Deutschtown" but listed it as "East Allegheny" as per the city. It sounds like representatives from the city need to start reading City-Data more!

Why do I get the impression everyone has voted for Fairywood just to mock the poll?

I would vote for Squirrel Hill but I hate the North/South dividing line. My favorite neighborhood is Squirrel Hill between Forbes and Phillips from Frick to Schenley parks. Technically it's South - but I don't care for the rest of Squirrel Hill South much. The decision is actually really difficult - even out-of-the-way neighborhoods like Fineview I find really special. If I take the entire neighborhood by the city's definition - I'll go with the South Side.

Are you a squatter in one of the abandoned housing projects? That's all I thought was there. Or maybe the old abandoned "Hill's" Department store?
