Anyone have any thoughts on living on Haldane Street in Greenfield? I'm thinking of renting a single-family home there. Any details you could provide on noise level, crime, street traffic level, etc would be very helpful. Thank you!

It's a perfectly nice street typical of upper Greenfield, safe and quiet, but steep. Unless you are right on Greenfield Ave., there won't be much traffic.

Thanks for your input! Do you mean steep in prices or steep as in hills? I've noticed Pittsburgh is full of hills!! (I'm moving from Georgia!) Thanks again.

Technically, Pittsburgh isn't hilly, but rather it sits on a dissected plateau. Haldane is steep because it is on the slope of a valley, not a hill. This really makes no difference at all but is a fun thing to say to people who aren't from Pittsburgh.

Nice enough street. Easy access to Oakland and south side.

I make deliveries quite frequently to Haldane Street. The people seem friendly. I'm not a huge fan of Greenfield just based upon my own aesthetic preferences, but it's a very solid neighborhood in a good public school feeder pattern for the city schools.

Greenfield isn't that bad at all. The 1980's drug war between the Faiellos and Prosdocimos is long over, and Eggy Prosdocimo is still serving a life term.

I live a couple streets over from that so PM me if you have any questions. I haven't really witnessed / been aware of any serious crimes in that section of Greenfield at least. I see lots of people walking around during the day, so I'd say in general it's pretty safe. I've also found the neighborhood to be very quiet in my year or so here so far. Traffic is trivial unless you are trying to get on beechwood blvd or greenfield ave. Just don't go during rush hour and you should be fine (although really that is not even so bad unless you are trying to get on 376 during rush hour).

Of course I'm biased, but from Greenfield it's pretty easy to get to squirrel hill /oakland/downtown/parks, so it might be nice if you want to get familiar with other areas in the east
