The Mormon faith is growing by leaps and bounds around here, as folks from the western states move here to accept good jobs in the expanding energy fields.

The key to achieving diversity in the region is to bring in industries that will attract diverse populations. Just "being open" to new religious and ethnic groups isn't sufficient, or even necessary. Families will come here even if the population isn't that thrilled about them, if the opportunities are here.

During the Great Migration of African Americans back in the 20th Century, blacks didn't choose Pittsburgh because we were more accepting than Altoona or Scranton, but because we had the opportunities available here.
