I'm looking to move to the Chartiers creek area of Pittsburgh roughly between McKees Rocks down the creek to Heidelberg to be closer to family's work. I'm currently searching for house locations, and from past forums it seems like train noise might be a big factor in some spots over there. Are there certain spots that are the loudest?

I can image buying a house, then discover the train blasts its horn every night at 11pm might be annoying.

I was wondering, do trains blast their horns at a regular interval in certain neighborhoods? What are the loudest spots?

Thanks!

I lived by the tracks in Bridgeville, the noise is not bad. They only come through town once or twice a day. I am a very light sleeper, the noise just disappeared after a week or two and it never woke me up.
