March was colder than February, which doesn't happen often. The freeze thaw cycles tear up the pavement. They generally get things patched up by May.

Even 79 has spots that could cause serious damage or accidents since people drive like 80mph on it. Places like Forbes Ave downtown looks like it's taken some mortar rounds recently. Anyone else think things are worse than normal with the roads? I'm sure Peduto, Fitz, and Wolf are on top of things.
I've lived here nearly 12 years and they are indeed the worst I've ever seen

Arlington Avenue and other parts in that area are landslide mudslide disasters. The road up to Duquesne Heights from West End Circle also closed due to landslides.

2003-2004 was worse. Or maybe 2004-5. I can't remember if it was the year I got here or the one after.

I've been here since 2006. Undoubtedly the worst I've seen. In particular, I see more damage on the highways then I've ever seen

I don't go on the highways much. It's hard to avoid crossing a river if you do.

they have to get smart and think about ways to prevent this constant 'catch-up' on road maintenance. no sooner can an entire neighborhood be nicely patched or repaved when another looks like the surface of the moon.
different materials, maybe. different methods of placement. maybe even actually enforcing weight restrictions on some roads.

I've been driving a lot recently throughout the Commonwealth as well as Ohio. The roads are in horrific shape everywhere, and with Spring-like weather not coming for at least a few more weeks it looks as if things will just get worse before they improve. The current road conditions are the worst I've seen them since moving to Pittsburgh in 2010.

Bring back the block! The city should be stripping asphalt from Belgium block and brick streets. My street has never needed paved and it is pushing 80 years old. People complain about the wear and tear on cars, well then slow down. I asked the mayor why they don't do it, and he said it requires approval of the residents of that block, which is the same before they would ever pave over one.
