I’d love to support a local institution, but every single Wigle product I’ve tried tastes like rubbing alcohol. In the years I’ve been in Pittsburgh, they don’t seem to be getting better. How do they stay in business?

I'm not a fan either, expensive for locally made as well. I think the two venues they have help to keep the lights on. Threadbare seems popular.

The prices they are charging are in line with a Single Malt Scotch. Sorry, but there is no way I am paying for some local whiskey if it isn't much cheaper than what the masters are making over in Scotland. I do wish them well and they must have a following. I never had anything that could compare to a nice Glenlivet, not even close.

Love their success story but I agree. You'd think the product would be a little cheaper in the local market. Threadbare is a little better. I like that they're bringing some attention to the Spring Garden area. A cool part of town.

Agreed. I would rather not drink thank drink their booze. Their pricing is obscene for a not very good product and you don't really see it on a lot of menus around town, or at least not where I hang out. Boyd & Blair on the other hand, that is a good vodka for a good price.

The only while product I’ve liked was their unaged white rye which isn’t saying much

Their Cocktail Mixer #1 is good in a Manhattan and the coffee liquor is satisfying over vanilla ice cream. But $29 a bottle is kind of obscene. I didn't realize that the distillery is an eponym-named after one of the two men convicted of treason for their role in the Whiskey Rebellion. So points for that! I have to try Boyd and Blair.

I like their gin.

Their tour is worth taking.

the Nadurra from Glenlivet is very good, but I'm pretty partial to Laphroaig triple wood and Balvenie Caribbean cask.

Just stopped by Southern Tier distilling (next to the brewpub in Lakewood NY) last weekend. Their whiskey offerings are great, I'm sure they'll be available here soon if not already.
