i was never IN Dreaming Ant, but I do remember its existence, having walked by it numerous times.

And Art All Night - I went i think in 2014 (give or take a year). If I recall, it was contained in one big warehouse down there below the 40th Street Bridge. I think that structure is now owned and used by some industry. Art All Night was weird - I just don't "see" in some art what others do, i guess. But it was cool to experience, especially for the kids there (teens, 20s) who were revelling in their togetherness. We middle aged people just don't DO that - so I liked to witness it, I guess. They did some impromptu parade/dance thing, just a mob of bodies moving together.

I remember well a couple Rock All Night Tour (RANT) events - which were great.

Thanks for sharing this! I can't be sure, but I feel the youth culture was at its apex in the last decade. There was vigor, the arts, thriving bands and so much positivity in the city.

Dreaming Ant, retro??

I'm not sure < 10 years constitutes retro.

to someone in their 30s, i think even 5-8 years is a startling change and that for people of that age looking back to a modest 10 years seems like the good old days. maybe because in that period, you finish being young and see things differently, more seriously perhaps, more in focus w responsibilities like job, house, etc.

i played basketball last weekend with people i hardly new - a couple of them were already knew each other and were good friends. they were amazingly joyous and fun for people in their late 30s and 40s. i never felt so invigorated by being around people in that age group. they were there to play, sure, but were joking, being silly....it was mentally refreshing.

edit: but yes, i know what you mean. by "retro" we do think 20 years minimum, and usually something memorialized perpetually in old print or on grainy video, if not even black and white film!

The hat is from 2005.

I agree, these items are not technically retro presently.

Guess I should've said a few older Pittsburgh items

I am not technically in my 30s, but sure fit that mentality now. And all those things about all those changes are all true for me too, lol.
