hi all

i am supposed to fly in this wknd to see a house, possible finalize an offer. and to look at other options.

we pricelined the ticket, so no refund.

how is airport?
how is the road (richland)?
would i be getting anything done, or a waste of a trip?

when the weather report says snow shower, what does that mean?

not experienced winter drivers YET, worried about safety,

this is not an urgent trip, but on other hand it's already paid. don't want to waste $$$. only way out is for flight to be cancelled at this point 'p
we are from NC. so far it's rain rain rain and severe winds for us.

Should be fine. Sun is out a little right now. No significant snow over the weekend. Through roads should be clear and easily passable. Some small back roads or dead end roads might be snow covered but still passable I would think at this point. I don't think out where you're going you're going to have significant issues.

Snow showers means scattered short periods of snow, sometimes heavy. Sometimes it can snow enough quickly to put a little coating on the roads. If it does that, just go easy. Keep aware of stopping distance, that's the big thing. It's not going to hamper your ability to go, but it will get in the way of stopping if you're not careful.

Absolutely not a waste of an unrefundable trip. I mean, the flight's paid, you might as well come up and have a look around. But, you will have to keep in mind in looking at the house(s), neighborhood(s), etc, the ground is going to be covered under 2 feet of snow. It's not at all ideal. You won't be able to see what's under that! It can mask both faults and desirable features.

Yeah, I'd be more concerned about the house and what you can see with the weather like it is rather than actually getting around. If you do put in an offer, make sure it is contingent upon a full inspection after the snow has disappeared. There will be no way for your inspector to properly inspect the roof in these conditions. When the thaw does happen, that will be a good time to check for water issues in the basement.

Is someone currently living in the house or is it vacant? If it is vacant the realtor/seller should at least have things shoveled out by now for viewings. Good luck.
