I'd say that it's rather normal to talk about cool things that used to be.

You don't usually miss things until they are gone.

You can't be nostalgic about things that still exist.

How can you know where you're going unless you know where you've been?

Lotta people around here who actually remember, either have been here that long or returned. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's annoying.

I'm interested in local history, and I think it helps me perceive more of interest in the local built environment, people, and so forth. But that's just me.

I fondly remember the good ol' days on the CD Pitt forums when people didn't talk about nostalgia...

I remember back in post #3 of this thread where Geeo asked a philosophical question... Anyone else around for that?

Pittsburgh does not suck now. I am also young, but have educated myself enough about Pittsburgh to know that, in some ways, the city was better in the past. But Pittsburgh remains a great city.

In 20 or 30 years when Pittsburgh has been transformed by new people, new developments, and so on, I'll bet most of look back nostalgically at this simpler time when Pittsburgh was just on the cusp and the people who truly appreciated it were a fairly select group.
