As much as it's not acceptable down here in the States.
I've personally seen the level of ignorance that *some* Canadians have achieved, so it wouldn't surprise me, in the least, to see some fringe group, much like that pastor in Florida, come up with with something as idiotic as this.
Even beyond this, as the article says, there is an unspoken intolerance that seems to be bubbling. In my experience, it's really only after a couple of beers and in the company of close friends, that the issues really come out.
But, to think that it "can't happen in Canada"? Pure foolishness, IMO.
Oh sure anything is possible but it's unlikely to happen.
Why is it so unlikely? From what I have seen and heard, the sentiment is definitely there.
