er um, given that Cleopatra was a greek, and not black, her suggesting makes as much sense as Denzel Washington playing George Washington.

Was the title of your thread in hopes to inflame and start the black/white bashing. By the article, how you could assess this person is racists is interesting, I will however state that the author is completely ignorant to history and should have done a little more research on the macedonians from that time. Although Cleopatra was an African Queen, does not mean she was black.
Well, as long as they don't give the role to one of those boring blonde, blue-eyed gals...
At the time she lived Egypt had long ceased to be the great civilization it once was, so who cares...

Well, the author doesnt want facts getting in the way lol.
From the looks of it, I don't think that anyone should be fighting over what "race" Cleopatra properly belongs to. The chick just wasn't all that good looking.

Cleopatra spoke the native egyptian language did she not?
The whole greek argument does not hold up either because there were plenty of Greeks back then, and today, who are what many would consider "Black".

Um... no.
Cleopatra was a Ptolemy, a successor of Alexander the Great in Egypt.
And... "plenty of black Greeks?" Where do people come up with this stuff?
Egypt was a very old civilization. Nubians (from modern day Sudan) were an important part of that civilization, and did rule upper Egypt for a time, if I'm not mistaken. By the time Cleopatra rolled around, however, we're talking major shift in the dynasty!
