Most likely not because we would not have the same values. But I have been attracted to a liberal now and again.

I did marry a polar opposite almost 16 years ago. His views have changed over time. He was a die hard Democrat. He is now registered to vote as an Independent.

There are only two things that are necessary in a romantic relationship.

#1 You both must trust each other to protect each other from others and to never use your partner's weaknesses against them.
#2 You both must respect each other intellectually and philosophically.

Without both of these elements it's only a matter of time before anger and resentment fracture the relationship.

I don't think I could respect someone who had polar opposite opinions from my own.

She probably loves him for the man he is not his political views. I think it is the manner in which we live our day to day lives that defines our characters, not our politics.
