It's not just liberals who do this. Social conservatives take the same approach on a number of issues. Libertarian conservatives favor freedom, but they're not the ones who dominate the Republican Party - it's social conservatives who have the power.
Women should be able to choose to kill their offspring at taxpayer offense, but you shouldn't be able to choose to drink a sugary soda or smoke a cigarette!

If they were really pro-freedom, they would be pro-choice. I hate the hypocrisy.
In vending machines on public property. betamanlet and his ilk are perfectly free to buy their carbonated high-fructose corn syrup emulsion elsewhere and bring it.
