"This past year, I have often felt like I was living in a dream, wondering when someone was going to pinch me to wake me up," she told the St. Lawrence graduates. "The hours can be long, but I have found that the long hours are painless when you are doing what you love. And I love my job."

Speaking of the woman's homeland, Puerto Rico, isn't that the place that Obama is pushing for statehood? Yep, two more Democrat Senators along with 5 Democrat Representatives sounds pretty good but over 1 million votes of the Democrat variety sounds pretty good too, doesn't it?

Not to mention that Puerto Rico has been a territory of the US since 1917, and all Puerto Ricans were then declared US citizens. So, even if she had been born in PR, she'd still be a US citizen, with a homeland of, oh, I dunno, the United States of America.

From Wikipedia (easy source):

In 1917, "Puerto Ricans were collectively made U.S. citizens"[24] via the Jones Act.

That's right, and I have a US passport as a result. Sad many people don't know that

Agreed.

And I personally see no reason that PR should be denied statehood. It's already treated as a state, except for representation in our government.

You don't even know that's what would happen. But it's actually irrelevant. The fact that you'd rob them of statehood if they wanted it (and we don't even know if they do) just because you don't think they'd vote YOUR way (and we don't even know if they would) speaks volumes.
