^ interesting article. It makes some really great points. When Mexico inevitably falls into civil war, it could spill into the US because of our dependence on foreign marijuana. We need to become self-sufficient in growing our own marijuana.
I'm not even a smoker and I think nothing but good could come from this.

Agreed. A waste of money and resources on a victimless crime.
One of the reasons it is illegal is because LE is the big beneficiary in having it so. The seizure of assets laws from the 1980's are still in effect.
(No, I'm not saying that society does not benefit somehow from having drugs illegal.....only that LE takes in millions of dollars in property and other assets annually from the seizure laws.)

Yes, burglarizing American citizens who choose a safer recreational drug than alcohol is the law of the land.

Society does not benefit from having drugs illegal. There it's said. Drug use is a victimless crime and drug abuse is a medical problem. We don't need law enforcement involved in either situation. 40 years of making drugs illegal has made them more expensive, which invites criminals into the distribution, has made them more potent and of varied quality, which has caused overdoses, and has resulted in innocent people (as in those unaffiliated with any drug activity) being killed by law enforcement, not to mention hundreds of dogs and other pets. Active Law enforcement will always be in favor of drugs being illegal because of the jobs it provides. They are not interested in solutions, they are interested in pensions. Talk to a member of LEAP and then decide.
Just gonna hafta pass out meth to the pot smokers, and pot to the coppers, thas all.
