(July 30) -- A high school teacher in Connecticut is in hot water after spanking an unruly student, police say.
Francis Hajosy, 54, of Stafford, has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree breach of peace for the incident, which occurred last month in his classroom at Enfield High School, according to court documents.
ok well I am opposed to spanking in public schools, but in states where it it is allowed the parents much consent to it. While the student was out of line, the teacher was also out of line as soon as he said, "You know, you're not too big for me to put over my knee and spank." That's very inappropriate!!!
Individual US states have the power to ban corporal punishment in their schools. Currently, it is banned in public schools in 30 U.S. states. The corporal punishment of minors within the home is lawful in all 50 of the United States and, according to a 2000 survey, it is widely approved by parents.
bunch of wussies.I went to catholic school till 12th grade. when i got caught fighting i had to punch a brick wall till my knuckles all bled got the wood ruler on my knuckles to many times to remember. best education i ever got .i still thank God i was forced to learn in school.i still remember all my teachers they all cared about me. not that way today
I'm relatively liberal, socially speaking, and I don't have a problem with school paddling--and I speak as a veteran recipient of it.
Of course, if it isn't allowed in Connecticut, the teacher ought to have known better. But it isn't "sexual assault" or sexual anything else; it's an employment standards issue. And it sounds like the rotten little brat got much less than what she deserved.
He knew he was wrong to do it but it was frustration that made him loose his cool. He will now have to live with the consequences and if there is any justice the girl will also pay for her behavior.
Can't expel them, can't spank them. That's a real problem with our public schools. I support punishment for behavior like she displayed and if people want hand-off then kick them out and leave school to the people who want to be there and know how to act in public. It would make the schools better for everyone at no extra cost.
