It really depends on who you are and at what level. The US is still the place if your upward mobile. Europe mostly attrcts those who are not . For the adventurist china and india maybe the way up but the livg is much harder. persoanlly I like where I live and the opportunity I hav had and continue to have. Its like new york;a wanderful palce to live if your rich and not so if you poor.

The minimum monthly salary of Ireland is 1503 euros. The minimum wage of the USA is so low that is used to make jokes in europe. No universal healthcare and no mass transit systems. Us cities are built for cars, therefore have no soul because you can't see people walking, commuting to point A to point B.
Those who have travelled to Europe know my point.

The USA should be number 20 down at least... That's a US American magazine, maybe that gave the USA a few extra points.
In before someone points out that Europe would be speaking German without the US.

Your schools suck, you have nice universities, though, but they are all liberal so they don't count, right?

Not true. Obesity statistics - countries compared - NationMaster

US: 30.6% obesity rate. Japan: 3.2%. Italy, France, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Norway < 10%.

Like who? Britney, Katy Perry? Country music sucks and most good american rock bands are most likely liberal anyways, so you won't like them.

Funny, you didn't mention your great universities. Too ashamed to admit you are proud of the liberal universities?

That is pretty much it for culture. The rest is bad fast food and reality shows. You have some good movie makers and actors but most are liberals so you can't show off with them.

Oh boy I could have fun with this, but, I always try to be polite and diplomatic..........Your criteria is a bit soft! Most popular sports.................Football and Nascar! Best music................America invented country Music! Culture.................isnt that what yogurt is made from? You are correct about our Universities though. Like I said its perspective!

The list was spot on. I just moved to Switzerland this summer after living in the DC suburbs and West Virginia for the past 20 years, and I love it here. It is so refreshing to walk through the city, not seeing a single fast food joint or chain restaurant. Impressive art and architecture everywhere you look. Secure about my daughter's schooling. Clean air and streets. Lots of interesting people from every country on earth.

Yes it is expensive, but I am paid a fair wage and can live in the style I was accustomed to in the US. Better even. I don't think I will ever want to leave.

Not sure places like Japan and Australia (or most of these countries listed) savor taking in immigrants, let alone uneducated third worlders cluttering their landscape. Their immigration policies very strict. And what have they to offer to a country which values a stable economy and low crime, values an intact society and national security, hmm? Tolerance much? Nope. Self preservation? Absolutely.
