For 140 people over the past six years, the soft Texas drawl of Charles O'Reilly was the last voice they heard before they died.

And Mr O'Reilly, who retired this week from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Huntsville Unit - where he presided over more lethal injections than any other warden - says he has no regrets.

I wouldn't have any regrets either. Putting the most vicious of hardened criminals to death is a great public service in my opinion. Pedophiles should also be getting death sentences, as it is the worst crime imaginable.

Its just too bad they use lethal injection and not hanging or beheading.

I wouldn't want the job but I do think they need to speed up the process. The fact people can be found 100% guilty of heinous crimes and then sit on Death Row for 10-20 years is a joke.

Think of the money we'd save, if all the people on death row, completed their sentence.

It is cheaper to house them for life then to put them to death.

I think it would be a worse crime to make someone sit in a small room till their day they die and have to think about each day why they are there.
