Because Muslims run it. We're talking about why we don't want this here in the USA, although some of you apparently do want it.
I don't want it, I find it a stupid religion. However, Iran has been Muslim for a long time, for the most part Persians gradually converted. Unlike the US and other Western countries Persia back then did not have a system that could have prevented the spread of Islam.
The takeover talk of today in places like the US or Germany is a bit ridiculous. Those places will never become majority Muslim because of Muslim immigration. That only leaves the option that natives convert to Islam on a grand scale. I don't think that will ever happen, and even if it did, it would obviously be what the people want.
The protesters are overwhelmingly Muslim as well. As is Mousavi. Green was used because it was the traditional color of Islam, and the protesters would in fact yell "Allahu Akbar" from rooftop to rooftop to protest the curfews.
You really can't grasp the situation in Iran beyond "Muslim is bad", can you?
Look at Spain - Germany was never Muslim. Spain was and it's heroes finally did manage to rid itself of Islamic oppression.
It could be like Iran is today - where women are forced to wear hideous brown sheets over them and no freedom exists. But Spain did what it had to do and today is a free country with beautiful music and people. Women in Spain aren't beaten to death for letting an ankle show.
Are you willingly ignorant of Spain's modern history or just ignoring the facts?
Islamic oppression? Is that in comparison to the centuries of Catholic oppression? Ferdinand and Isabella were great, I suppose- if you weren't Jewish, Muslim, an intellectual or scientist, or at all liberal. Spain hit it's high point in history in 1492- after Muslims had been kicked out. From there it was a plunge to the bottom. Spain expelled all of its intellectuals.
Flash forward to modern day. In the 1930s, where the Guerra Civil claimed the lives of thousands of Spaniards. Catholic Fascist Francisco Franco was dictator for 40 years. In that time, he TOOK AWAY women's suffrage except for women who were considered heads of households. Women really only got the vote back in Spain in 1976. For the record, MOST Muslim or Muslim predominant nations gave women the vote before then (with a few obvious exceptions- notably the Arabic peninsula, showing the cultural rather than religious motivations for subjugating women).
While we're talking in this and other threads about the Muslim world supporting the Nazis, let's not forget that while Spain was neutral during WWII, that was only a function of being unable to participate due to the aftermath of the Civil War. It was no secret that Franco was allied with Hitler. In fact, he let Hitler try out his bombs on the Basque city of Guernica since they Basques were a troublesome ethnic minority. Picasso's famous mural commemorates that event.
Under the Franco regime, women could not purchase contraception legally, were required to wear dresses, were prohibitive from almost all economic activities without expressed permission from the husband (including employment, ownership of property, or travel), there were strict laws against adultery that were slanted against women, and divorce was prohibited in any circumstance. Homosexuals were punished and humiliated. Rape victims had to prove that they fought to defend their selves in order to even think about prosecution of the rapist. During the Guerra Civil and the early part of Franco's dictatorship, homosexuals were killed (see Federico Garcia Lorca). Throughout the dictatorship, they could be imprisoned if even suspected of being gay. Any of this sound familiar?
Spain's economy has been in the toilet for the past 100 years not because of the strains of Muslim influence of 600+ years ago but because of Christian influence 35 years ago.
It also appears to me that you do not really understand the history of Muslims in the Iberian Peninsula or the history of the area that we now call Spain BEFORE the Muslims came into the picture. I would really suggest you read a few books on Spanish history. Their "conquest" was no worse than the Germanic tribes (Vandals) before them. Or the Romans before them. Or the Carthaginians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Celts etc before them. That is how the history of Europe was made- conquest. Why is it OK that the Vandals and Romans sacked the existing cities and, in the case of the Romans, even forced their language onto the existing people but when the Muslim forces took over and shielded the peninsula from the Dark Ages, it's all awful? Shows an extreme lack of understanding of this period in World History and especially in Spanish history.
It was Nigerians who first warned me of the nature of Islam. They were seeing things with their own eyes that were taking place in their country. They will tell you, the same thing will happen in the USA because Americans are not somehow special to the followers of that religion, in fact they despise us more.
Since that time, I've talked with Hindus on the things that go on in India and how the Muslims took Pakistan which belongs to India.

And you have an extreme lack of understanding of current day events in many parts of the world. Spain was not free during Islamic rule, no more free than the Persian people are today. Spain had to fight fire with fire - and that's why it's the only nation that has freed itself of Islam. The Persians are unable yet to free themselves.
You swallow all the Muslim propaganda but what you need to do is open your eyes to what's taking place. The massacres throughout the world TODAY.
While there is a lot of crime in those places, they can't be compared to the US or Germany or Britain, which have a constitution, checks and balances and all that.
In many of those developing countries the fault lies with the colonial powers who forced those different religions into the same country, which of course makes people compete for power. Actually, this is the very reason why the Brits drew those arbitrary borders. They wanted Muslims and Christians and heathens to fight each other so they wouldn't unite and stand up against the occupiers.
