This is just some desperate crapola that her opponant is coming up with. He can't win on his own, so let the smears start.

Ah........if the documents were forged, there would be no record of them at the U.S. Immigration Service. If the nanny was not a citizen, she should have had a green card or a visa. Someone who runs a company has the wherewithal to know this. There were red flags that Meg ignored until she decided to run for governor....then Meg knew to get rid of the nanny quick like!

I just hate hypocrites.
The only hypocrites and liars here are Allred and the illegal.

Clearly, Whitman did all she was supposed to do - went through an agency to hire the woman, who filled out a 14-page application, where she clearly lied about her status and provided forged documents.

When she found out she was illegal, she did what she was supposed to do - fired her. Too bad she had some compassion for the woman instead of turning her in.

The article I posted above, with the opinions of the immigration attorneys, clearly states that IF she were to question and probe the employee for more documentation, she would be setting herself up for potential trouble.

This has backfired fabulously on Allred and Brown.

No. I would be right. You would be missing my point.

I never said that she did anything illegal. But the way she dealt with this says a lot about her character.

First of all, come on. You have a maid from MEXICO. You get a form from the government saying that the info doesn't match up. Do I have to draw you a big picture here of what is a distinct possibility? They didn't have to fire her, but for a woman who is so adamant about being tough on illegals and holding employers accountable...you'd think she would take some action?

And anyways, if she had any sense, couldn't she have been forthcoming about this? If she knew at campaign time that the maid was an illegal, it wouldn't take a genius to figure out that it's going to come back to bite you in the ass. She could have put it out there and used it as an opportunity to highlight the need for reform in the way that immigrants are screened for employment. Instead, she tries to effectively hide it and hope that no one brings it up. Great leadership.

It's called lying. If this was some left-winger, you'd be throwing a hissy fit.

Add this with the settlement she reached for attacking an employee, the fact that she's voted like once in her life, and the fact that this "fiscal conservative" is hell-bent on financially carpet-bombing the state with record amounts of cash to get to that governor's seat...and I'm pretty suspicious of her. I don't like Jerry Brown, but I think she's a barracuda with lipstick. After all I've seen, I'd trust her about as far as I could chuck her fat multi-billionaire ass.

It makes no sense whatsoever that Brown would have anything to do with this. He has no history of any such thing- and WHY would he do this, knowing it could backfire, when he is very, very likely to win the election any way?

Allred does have a history of this. I believe that as a Brown supporter she raked this up on her own. Brown is probably privately furious with her.

Allred and Whitman history:

Quote:
Not First Accusation of Whitman Mistreatment

......The Whitman team also pointed out that Allred has been involved in at least one other last-minute attack against a Republican gubernatorial candidate. In the closing days of California's 2003 recall election, Allred represented a woman who claimed that then-candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger had sexually assaulted her in the past. The lawsuit was later thrown out.

This is also not the first time Whitman has faced allegations of mistreatment. In 2007 Whitman allegedly cursed at and shoved an eBay employee in a conference room at the company's headquarters. The New York Times reported in June that Whitman paid the employee, Young Mi Kim, a settlement worth about $200,000......

Right on. All these straw man arguments on the left just shows how incredibly weak and incompetent their positions are on this topic.

I haven't heard a word about a green card or visa, so I don't know if those were part of the forged documents she supplied not only to Meg, but to the employment agency also. Let's not forget about the I9 form one has to sign under the penalty of perjury that you are authorized to work in the US.

Meg didn't fire her when she decided to run for governor. She fired her when the maid confessed she was an illegal alien....about 4-5 months AFTER Meg announced her candidacy (Feb '09). By law, Meg HAD TO fire her.

Meg and her husband are not at fault here. The maid is. I wonder what made her hold on to that letter for so many years... hmmm. And where are all those other letters that were supposedly sent? Anyone? Nicky?
