High fructose corn syrup is a mixture of glucose and fructose which is a sugar polymer of three glucose molecules. The glucose is more quickly used by the body and the fructose acts like 3 times the amount of glucose so you get more bang for the buck!. So why do you think the processed food industry just loves this engineered sugar? Well one in four Americans is on the road to getting diabettes. While high fructose corn suger can induce one of the most lethal cancers if you luck out and get pancreatic cancer, It also causes other damage that reduces the supply of insulin or damages the insulin molecule produced so you get that cute little problem called Type 2 Diabettes a disease where the body loses control of the amount of sugar in the body .
With 1 to 4 odds this is one health lottery you as an American have a good chance of winning.
Just because something is labeled a "Study" does not mean it's valid. There are all types of research studies. To determine the merit of a study, you have to examine things like
1. size of the population studied
2. how the population was chosen
3. how the study was conducted (was it a randomized double blind study)
4. how many years were the subjects observed
5. could something else account for the results of the study
In short, there are a lot of interesting yet weak studies that the general public will throw a hissy about when in reality the study itself was quite weak. The media will cite a study to gain headlines and technically, they are not doing anything wrong because they are not asking people to form a particular impression, they are only informing you that one study suggested this.
I'm not saying high fructose does not make cancer cells proliferate, but you will need much stronger evidence than this study to conclude that all high fructose products cause pancreatic cancer

Sigh...
(1) There is no conclusive evidence that shows fructose damages insulin
(2) Type II DM has a strong genetic component and most people will ultimately develop DM II regardless of their lifestyle if they live long enough.
(3) Americans are much more sedentary today than they were in the past. You can't blame DM II on diet alone. Exercise helps the tissues become more sensitive to insulin.
I agree. People should be free to make their own stupid decisions, but then they should have to live with the consequences. So at the very least, since we always wind up paying for those consequences as a society, can we at least just get the word out? People in general are really dumb and they believe (again, in general) that if something is legal and readily available, that it's safe. You have no idea how pervasive that attitude is. Which is one reason why I'm against legalizing drugs. People will actually think that means we think it's ok and safe and that the government is looking out for them. Same thing that happened with supplements and various diet regimens...*sigh*
Bottom line: as yet there is no proof that HFCS plays a role in causing or promoting the growth of pancreatic cancer in humans.
HFCS can make you fatter, as can any sugar, and that is the best reason to decrease consumption. If anything, the UCLA study suggests cutting back on all sugar.

And don't forget..corn is used to FATTEN up those cows before they get slaughtered because it works so fast.
too much corn = fattening up
A few studies correlate our obesity problem with HFCS.
Besides, think of the boon to the economy it would be to have an all new job sector of people who "test" individuals products, that is like at least 100 million new jobs and those who couldn't afford a personal home lab technician, well sucks for them, they were probably too poor and on welfare and should be allowed to die anyway, more resources for the rest of us who really count.
Do you think the FDA should step in and have warning labels added on all products containing fructose syrup?
Just put a big HIGH FRUCTOSE SYRUP label on the front of the bottle with a SKULL and CROSS BONES - no need to ramble Folks will get the message or not
