Good move! Finally, the people are expressing their views. Maybe our elected officials will get the message some day. We need more of this.

"The tiny amount of marijuana police found while searching Touray Cornell’s home on April 23 became a huge issue for some members of the jury panel. No, they said, one after the other. No way would they convict somebody for having a 16th of an ounce.

In fact, one juror wondered why the county was wasting time and money prosecuting the case at all, said a flummoxed Deputy Missoula County Attorney Andrew Paul."

"I think it’s going to become increasingly difficult to seat a jury in marijuana cases, at least the ones involving a small amount,” Deschamps said.

Just heard about this from a friend yesterday evening while enjoying some good blonde hash.

Good for them, wide spread social anarchy is one way to get the government to soften its position, or to harshen it. Lets hope its soften.

It's a common sense issue: Arresting someone for a small amount of marijuana in their own home is over the top law enforcement and one small step in taking away the personal freedom to live as you please

Having just read the full article, I am impressed at the common sense and wisdom of the judge in the case. He hands down a pretty stiff sentence on the felony charge but suspends most of it giving the defendant a chance to turn his life around. Hopefully, he will be smart enough to take advantage of the chance the judge is giving him.

A jury refuses to convict on felony thieft and drug chages for a 8 time loser and your all happy all because a weed charge was also included among the other charges. This low life POS does not need another chance being he is a 8 time loser.
Theres a big differance in someone getting caught with a 16th ounce and thats all with a clean record than a 8 time drug pusher thief.

He was convicted on the felonies. He got 20 years with 19 of them suspended. The judge gave him another chance. He screws up again and those 19 years become real and not suspended.

The point that was being made is that juries increasingly have a problem with charges relating to very small amounts of marijuana that is for personal consumption.

Thats all fine and dandy but people better look at the big picture, the guys not a good guy, he's an 8 time loser he's not just some poor kid getting caught with a little weed, they searched his house for a reason he is pond scum, don't close your eyes to the big picture, jurors don't have the right to refuse just because there was a little weed involved.
Sometimes when the police bust people ror reason x they include charges for everything they find. In this case the weed was just an additional charge but the jurors whouldn't convict or even serve because weed charges were included, thats just stupid.
So say a guy robs you and they find some weed in his pocket do ya think nobody should serve on the jury because they added the weed charge?
it just makes no sense yeah he got a year but it was a plea deal because jurors wouldn't serve because of the weed charge. 8 time loser walks because people are stupid.
