I'm baffled. Is Obama and his administration for or against "don't ask, don't tell?" If he wants to appeal on the ruling then something tells me he isn't socially "liberal." As so many have erroneously labeled him to be.

The proper way to end DADT is with Congressional action, not by court order or by the failure of the executive branch to appeal the judiciary. Agree with DADT or not, Obama is going about it the right way.

He's against DADT when he wants gays to vote for him and for the ban to further his own political career.....He's playing "both sides of the fence" IMHO....Other countries have had openly gay servicemen in the Military for over a decade so; the Pentagon has only to ask Israel(beginning in 1993) or Britain(beginning in 2000) for advice on the issue. Currently 34 nations allow Gays to openly serve their country....EVEN Russia allows gays to openly serve!

Having read the 9th Circuits decision there are far reaching issues outside of DADT which the district court's decision if it were to stand would set a judicial precedent that could adversely affect long standing precedents regarding the separation of powers. It would appear that the administration while dedicated to revoking DADT the administration is equally concerned about eroding the constitutional separation of those powers.

I strongly recommend that anyone wishing to express an opinion on this issue should first read the 9th Circuit's decision.
