How Obama Saved Capitalism and Lost the Midterms - NYTimes.com

"All of the above is good for capitalism, and should end any serious-minded discussion about Obama the socialist. But more than anything, the fact that the president took on the structural flaws of a broken free enterprise system instead of focusing on things that the average voter could understand explains why his party was routed on Tuesday. Obama got on the wrong side of voter anxiety in a decade of diminished fortunes."

Another blog being posted as "news"...

btw, the flaws in the "opinion" piece is that Presidents dont create economic policies, and under the Bush/GOP years, the stock market climbed over 100%, while they dropped 42% in the short period of time since Democrats took over Congress...

In addition, the stock market climbed 52% during the great depression.. Yeah, those were wonderful times for many americans..

But now all of a sudden, Obama by abandoning free market principles by buying up companies is saving capitalism, but Bush, who loaned companies money, wasnt..

Whatever you liberals need though to make yourself feel better after the bath you just took.. even if it means ignoring the political process...

Well, in fairness, Obama's economic policy was essentially a continuation of the Bush/Paulson one. Perhaps he took it farther than Bush/Paulson might have but that is a matter of detail not policy. So, if we are going to congratulate Obama then we should also reserve some kind words for Bush.

Desperate people do and say desperate things

Obama has never held a real job or been responsible
for a business he's just a puppet caring out an agenda
to fundamentally transform our Nation

Just a few examples

It became known that he had trained ACORN workers in Chicago and served as an attorney for ACORN.

He appointed cabinet members and several advisors who were tax cheats and socialists

He selected Valerie Jarrett was as HIS
Senior White House Advisor and she is an avowed
Socialist.

He took a huge spending bill under the
guise of stimulus and used it to pay off
organizations, unions, and individuals that got
him elected.

He designed plans to take over the
health care system and put it under government
control.

Not the Captialism that has made America Great

"The three signature accomplishments of his first two years — a health care law that will make life easier for millions of people, financial reform that attempts to level the playing field with Wall Street, and the $814 billion stimulus package — have all been recast as big government blunders, rejected by the emerging majority.

"But each of them, in its way, should strengthen the system. The health law will hold costs down, while giving millions the chance at getting care, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. Financial reform seeks to prevent the kind of meltdown that caused the global economic collapse. And the stimulus, though it drastically raised the deficit, saved about 3 million jobs, again according to the CBO. It also gave a majority of taxpayers a one-time cut — even if 90 percent of Americans don’t know that, either.

"Of course, nobody gets credit for preventing a plane crash. “It could have been much worse!” is not a rallying cry."

"They will whine a fierce storm, the manipulators of great wealth. A war on business, they will claim. Not even close. Obama saved them, and the biggest cost was to him."
