Which would explain why, at no time since 1849 have more than 50% of Californians been native born.
All those people that want nothing we have.
LOL. leave it to a historian to remind me of the 1849 gold rush. OK, the gold was nice... while it lasted. As for most of the people moving to California these days. They are from Mexico, not the other 49 states.

California leads the way with all of these. Lets keep going.. so you also don't want broccoli, carrots, asparagus, cauliflower, celery, garlic, mushrooms, onions, and peppers. (man...your pizza is gonna suck!). I suppose you don't want our livestock either including milk, beef cattle, eggs, sheep, turkeys, hogs, all of which California supplies more than a third of nationwide.
What about that computer you have? And the modern conveniences you take for granted? Forget about the technology, right? You don't need it. California ranks first among the states in manufacturing, technological and agricultural . Electrical equipment, components, and military communication equipment are California's leading manufactured products including electronic systems for aircraft and missiles.
Manufacture of computer machinery ranks second in production, followed by food product processing of baked goods, beverages, canned fruits and vegetables.
But naw, you don't need that trivial stuff. And that car? Well, who needs California's oil? We are third in that catagory...so without California your gas prices will go up about a buck a gallon, probably more.
I wish you didn't need these things! Our environment would be better off if we didn't, but we do and the nation consumes, benefits.

So next time you go off on California, think about the fact that you would be paying almost 50 percent more for the above products without us.
Kinda makes the whole "madness" of voting democratic rather trivial, doesn't it?
Ladies and gentlemen, Missy.Rivers from the Califorina Department of Commerce. <clap> <clap>.
OK, seriously, California grows a lot of things. Do you know what everyone hears about California grown products (whether it is true or not)? "Organic this, organic that". "Pesticide free blah blah blah". Those things end up costing more and most consumers don't want them. We are smart enough to wash the fruit before we eat it. We don't need to pay 50% more for "pesticide free".
As for "Manufacture of computer machinery " please tell that to the anti-free trade people who always harp on these forums about how the US doesn't have any manufacturing anymore. I'd buy front row tickets to that debate.
As to California being the 3rd biggest producer of oil, that is news to me. I never heard Califorina and oil mentioned in the same sentence. It can't be off-shore because there is no way the libs would allow that -- at least that is the attitude that is presented to the rest of the country.
Even in California probably 40% of the population is common-sense conservatives. It's just that we never hear about them. It's the "fruits" and "nuts", to quote another thread, that we hear from. It makes the rest of us pity that state and the people living there.
I guess you have made a good argument in favor of California. I will revise my statement to this: California is a wonderful state, except it is full of Californians.
Well, for starters, Californians LEAVE California and bring their attitudes with them. Las Vegas is (not so) jokingly referred to as "California East" or "Eastern Los Angeles." People leave the state and then demand that everyone in their new home state think, act and do exactly as they want.

It sounds like you think I don't know what I'm talking about. Just in case, let me set the record straight - I lived the first 36 years of my life in California. I've been gone less than 4. I know California. I know its problems. I chose to leave not because of of the weather or the lifestyle, but because of the PEOPLE there, and by extension, the politics. People who insist that they're better than everyone else. People that think they know what's best for everyone else. People who demand that others conform to THEIR lifestyle.
F* that.
Like I was telling the other poster, you're welcome to your bad choices. Just keep them - and their ramifications - to yourself. I left that state to get AWAY from you guys. Leave me and everyone else that chooses not to live there the hell alone, and don't come asking for a single thin dime when the house of cards knows as the California economy collapses.
Alaska is getting bailed out by the federal government every day. It's the most socialist state in the country.
60% of Alaska is federally owned.
I'm sure that the private sector would love to get their hands on that land. Are you willing to let them have it? If not, then quit suggesting that Alaska is "the most socialist state in the country." You can't have your cake and eat it, too.
Oh look who's back. Swagger, the guy who complains about other states sending electricity or water to California, and who lives in... wait for it... Las Vegas!
You can't make that stuff up.
I don't, but you sure do.
Show me my complaint. Please. Demonstrate to the rest of the forum that you're a liar, 'cuz all I did was point out that AZ sends more than just water to California - I wrote two words, and you're saying that I'm "complain[ing] about other states sending electricity or water to California." Unbelievable.

You know what's funny? Most of the foreclosures out here were rental properties owned by - you guessed it! California residents. Keep up the good work!

You should try leaving the strip. The locals don't go down there much, except to work or fleece the tourists at the poker tables.
And thanks for coming, and come back soon! (Bring lots of cash - I like not paying 10%+ of my income to the state).

Did you just call me a bigot? Or did you call every Nevada resident a bigot? It's one or the other, and either way, you've just shown the world who you are - exactly what I said the problem with California was - a bunch of elitist hypocrites that can't look past their turned up nose to see the giant hole they've dug for themselves.
Actually you could argue that Nevada is more socialist since the federal government owns about half the land out there.
It's actually about 85%. If the feds want to give it back, I'm all for it. Getting land that's been grabbed by the feds back from their grubby hands is pretty much impossible, though. As an off-roader, I've seen it happen time and time again. That's why we fight tooth and nail against every single land grab attempt.
Hooray! That means that MY BUSINESS will have MORE OPPORTUNITY to get MORE BUSINESS because people LIKE YOU have left.
Actually, my business is all phone and fax based, and we service customers nationwide.
Your post piqued my curiosity, so I just checked - 23% of our customers are in California. So roughly a quarter of our gross is money that's LEAVING your state.
Look at a map, and remember that the only reason we don't take all the Colorado River water we want is because we are polite.
Speaking of looking at a map...
You realize that the Colorado doesn't even get to California until after it passes through Colorado, Utah, Nevada and Arizona, right? And that Nevada and Arizona control the flow to California via the Hoover Dam?
I was trying to have a somewhat serious discussion in this thread, but now it's just getting silly, with stupidly proud and silly people making silly claims, demanding that people do things that they obviously haven't even done themselves, and calling people some pretty offensive names.
Oh well. Par for the course in this forum, I guess.

There's actually quite a lot of drilling going on off the shore of California. Just nothing very new... The rigs are out there and producing, though.
Not to speak for Taboo, but I'm pretty sure that every Californian in this thread is cheering wildly about your relocation to Nevada.
****Standing ovation here*****
