Actually she didn't. When President Obama and Vice President Biden won the election in 2008 they were required naturally to give up their Senate seats. Palin was not required to given up her governors position before or after the election she did so of her own free will.
This accounts for her plummeting popularity in the state of Alaska. There is a distinct chance that Sarah Palin wouldn't have won a re-election bid which would have been politically embarrassing and damaging.
You missed the point. NOBODY made them run for another office. The CHOSE to run. The people that elected them as senator excpected them to serve the full 6 year term.
I think the count was up to about 26 charges, all dismissed.
Palin was paid roughly 337,500 in 32 months as governor. After 19 bogus ethics charges against her, she owed around 500,000 in legal fees to her attorney. The current laws of Alaska required that every single filed ethics complaint to be investigated no matter how ridiculous (being photographed with a fish, wearing a jacket with a logo, receiving “cookie” bribes) and all at the personal cost of the defendant. Had she stayed in office another 16 months, she likely would have been forced into bankruptcy because Alaska law does not automatically cover the legal defense of its governors nor was the Attorney General of the state or someone else designated by the state to defend her like all other states. If you were working in a job that was costing you almost twice as much to go into work everyday than you were making would you stay there?
If you have ever been involved in an ethic charge you would know they are very time consuming. The satff was spending most of it's time responding to depositions talking with lawyers and gathering the data required to answer each charge.
Your link documents the ethics violations, but not the expenditure of personal money by Sarah.
There were 18 complaints, three still pending as of 6/21/09 (the date of the article). #8 was "settled" by Sarah reimbursing the state for travel expenses for her kids.

Obviously you didn't open the link. Each charge detailed with the outcome. Dismissed.
And you didn't read my post either, "I think the count was up to about 26 charges, all dismissed".
I knew that, it was basically a rhetorically question aimed at those who think the ethics complaints are anything other than partisan harassment.
Would that partisan harrassment include the Republicans who filed ethics compaints against the former governor?
