And you Dems didn't like Bush and Cheney for their cozying up to the military complex ?
Biggest arms deal in HISTORY and done by a Democratic President.

Even I'm embarrassed for you and I'm conservative.

sanrene..
one way to put a stop to this is to convince the American manufacturers to reject the money (60 Billion) and not build the equipment.
The Saudis maybe can make a deal with France for Mirage jets.
Good luck!

The left talked about Bush and the Saudis because 15 of them annihilated the World Trade Center while he was in office. That's not hyperbole, it's a fact.

What happened to all that rhetoric from the campaign about adhering to the rule of law, respecting, deliberating with congress, not engaging in such behavior where it looks like the administration is slithering around, hiding deals like this from congress?

I do so remember hi excoriating Bush for his "stealthy" ways....and the Left did the same.

Now, all is just peachy keen, now that a democrat is in office.

And we certainly remember the hyperbole from the Left regarding Bush and the Saudis - will we hear the same now that obama is in bed with them?

I guess we better hope the Saudis stay in control of their volatile country....hmmmmm?

Why look, we'll be increasing our presence their as well.....I thought the Left wanted all American interests out of Saudi Arabia?
Did you not read your own link? There is no allegation of wrong doing. That's all your mind. Or maybe you think all decisions on Middle East arm deals should be approved by AIPAC first?

No no don't do that. I'm sure Obama will go on the air about this and how many jobs this will save or create here in the US. He can say it's part of his jobs creation package.

Obama "hid" the deal? It was done on the sly? Stealth?

I guess you don't get out much or don't follow the news. This deal has been reported all over the world for weeks, from the UPI to Rueters to Pravada to the Jerusalem Post (Google it and see). It's no surprise to anyone who keeps up.

And, what's wrong with it?

You do know, don't you, that Israel doesn't object as they'll keep their qualitative edge. And, you do know, don't you, that Saudi Arabia is the king-pin in the strategy to contain Iran. That's what this is all about.

Oh, sure, the Saudi's are a bunch of duplicitous bastids, but they're far better for American interests than the Mullah's in Tehran, aren't they?

Oh...one more thing. This business about "sneaking" it past Congress is a bunch of hogwash. Congress itself long ago gave DOD the authority to make such deals, but reserved for themselves the right to oversee or even stop one. DOD is required to notify Congress when such a deal has been consumated and Congress then has 30 days to do something or it's automatic. That's how Congress wanted it and that's how it is.

SecDef Gates DID inform Congress, just like he was supposed to. Congress, though, had other things to attend to and let the 30 window pass without action. Now, suddenly, they're all in a huff and claming they've been tricked as a cover for them dropping the ball.

Methinks this is much ado about nothing and only another excuse for some to bash the President.

But..the Dems are against the war and are mad for Obama NOT bringing all the troops home and ending this.

I'm against the wars since Day 0. Obama was going to put an end to it all. And here he is with the biggest US arms deal in history.
And you're NOT upset ? With all the arms deals we're making we'll be at war for another decade moving from country to country.

ENOUGH ALREADY. The US needs to get out of the ME. We failed..we did not find Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice.
