There is a good debate going on the Atlanta board about Michael Vick and the discussion quickly turned to race. Many non-blacks find it hard to understand the support that is given to high profile blacks like OJ and Michael Vick. This article is a good read even though I could never understand supporting someone because of something was done generations ago. I know must be because I am white. What are your thoughts?
I support how he's plays Football. Personally for all the games I have seen White and Blacks cheering equally for Vick.
No one should should support what he done to those dogs.
I think considering that he could have done MUCH MUCH worst and he is actually paying for what he done through charities and etc, he deserves a bit of support.
OJ actually (well is accused of) actually murdered someone. Which I would never support him. I do not think any one ever should support him.
Also In my opinion as long as Obama is in office everything will turn into a discussion about race.
I think we need a Brett Favre Thread. Why do white people support him. Even with the huge problem of their children Texting ("Sexting")their junk to each other.

thats true. brett favre is an idol to whites, even though he is an admitted sexter and drug junkie.
lance armstrong is also an idol to whites and he pumped himself full of steroids.
and roger clemens is an idol to whites and he looks like he's going to prison for lieing about steroid use.

according to law, those acts are more cruel then vicks. ive read stories of puppie mills, dog fighting and horse starving out in the country here in mn and all they get are fines and maybe 90 days in jail.
the law says what vick did was minor compared to what someone like roger clemens did.
not saying i support the killings, im telling you what the law says.

All are horrible. We live in a world where people use these athletes/celebrity as role models for children.
Whats worst for your child to become:
-Some perverted sexter. Which can result some people can becoming registered Sexual Offenders.
-Or Steroid addicted/Drug Addicted.
-In jail for Years for Perjury.
-A Dogfighter.
The appropriate answer would be none.
I'm not a lawyer. But out of all those Crimes, I think DogFighting is pretty minor.
As a football player, I love Michael Vick, but as a person, not so much. I myself am not a huge dog-lover but what he did was very stupid and pointless. Besides, Michael Vick at the time was the highest paid player in the NFL. Can someone tell why in the hell the highest paid player in the league would be fighting dogs (as if he needs more money or something)?? I hate to say it, but it truely is a culture thing.
But he has shown that he is very willing to turn his life around by speaking at schools (in his free time) about the dangers of dog-fighting. So, you could say I support Michael Vick for the most part.

The law is wrong and as an animal rights activist, I am constantly trying to get harsher punishments for crimes like those committed by Vick and Co. Taking steroids has nothing on torturing animals.

People who hurt animals have a high rate of going on to hurt humans. That trumps everything else in your list here.
