Federal prosecutors say a Somali-born teenager plotted to carry out a car bomb attack at a crowded Christmas tree lighting ceremony in downtown Portland on Friday but the bomb turned out to be a dud supplied by undercover agents as part of a sting.
Mohamed Osman Mohamud was arrested at about 5:45 p.m. just after he dialed a cell phone that he thought would blow up a van laden with explosives but instead brought federal agents and Portland police swooping in to take him into custody.

I taught English as a Second Language to Somalis for a brief time while I lived in Minnesota. You're right about the illiteracy: Most of them had no idea how to write their own names. It's a huge cultural challenge to integrate them into American society.

They are simply culturally incompatible with western civilization. They should be resetelled in other African countries until such time as their country is peaceful again.
And this isn't the first Somali terrorist from America. There have been many more from Minnesota, who have returned to Somalia to fight a trans national jihad. What happens when these battle hardened extremists return to Minnesota? They aren't going to live peacefully, that's for certain sure.

The problem goes beyond a religon, no matter how crazy a religion (and they ALL ARE to some degree) it is. It's political, it's social, it's the only way of life some people have ever known for generations.
SeattleWA is right with the phrase "culturally incompatible". That's it right there. No amount of diversity embracing is going to overcome that.
We are in a war against terrorist. Doesn't matter where the person who wants to kill Americans came from.
Deport them? Hell no.
Exterminate them.
That is what you do to an ememy in war if you want to win and preserve your country and way of life.
If this scumbag was found beyond doubt attempting to kill innocent Americans, forget deportation or life in prison. A single bullit to the head, or a short burst from a machine gun is cheap, effective, and the proper response to an enemy that attempts an attack.
