Because you're a socialist if you are.

The usual leftist attempt to silence reasonable argument by making up a bizarre non-argument:

If you agree to get your stolen property back, that means you have no grounds for objecting to its theft in the first place.

Can these people get any siller and incoherent?

Not I --- but how is being forced to pay for something for over 50 years exactly socialism? And why should those who worked and paid into something for over 50 years entitled to nothing while those who never worked a day in their lives can life happily on Medicaid and welfare checks and liberals think those programs can expand to unlimited numbers?

In fact when you consider some guy who has worked and the government has stolen a huge chunk of his wages -- promising that it's a great government retirement plan, and you look at the measly size of that social security check -- and compare it with the over $62,000 a year average to support a welfare household, you would have to admit it's shameful the way we treat our retired taxpayers.

Obama doesn't even give retirees who have paid into support this huge government a free cell phone like those who never paid a tax and have always lived off handouts get.

Depends on what you consider "old" and "a grump", some days I fit both and other days I don't, either way I'm not on Medicare but seriously don't care who is on Medicare. If you dislike the situation so much why don't you volunteer to pay for their health care at their age? Then the Medicare problem is solved.

Medicare is not socialized medicine.

The far better example is the government controlled health care for vets. Pure socialism. I wonder how many of our resident right-wing military fetishists support continuing this example of socialism? If they had any intellectually consistent bones in their bodies, they would be screaming night and day about ending it. Perhaps handing vets some vouchers to go out and shop around for the best deal. I always thought that "Rummy dollars" had a nice ring to it. You could print them out on cheap paper where the ink easily runs. Oh, and if the ink does run off, sorry, those vouchers cannot be redeemed. You should have been more careful. You need to learn how to take care of yourself, the government can't do that for you your whole lives.

Medicare was set up because the private health insurance companies wanted no part of providing health insurance for those 65 and older.

Thats basically why Paul Ryan's voucher proposal for those on Medicare is totally inoperative.

No -- you are wrong again. Someone who joins the military is making an agreement -- even a sacrifice of his life and the government agrees to pay certain benefits in exchange.

If you want to see pure socialism just take a look at Medicaid, food stamps, WIC, free housing, etc.

In order to get on those, you have to do nothing. You don't work, don't pay anything, you don't even have to make a co-pay when you're on Medicaid -- it's all very free, very unlimited.

That is true socialism --- the government takes from the hard working types and redistributes their earnings to those who did not make any effort at all.

Although I don't approve of screaming at speeches or meetings and preventing rational discourse, it was more than a bit humorous in 2010 when The Boy Wonder returned to Wisconsin to have some town meetings. At one of them in a Milwaukee suburb, he had to sneak out the back door when the blue hairs were coming at him with pitchforks for pushing the voucher plan. They thought he was going to stop that Negro Muslim from taking away their Bibles and guns, they didn't think he was going to start monkeying around with their Medicare. Hilarious.
