Is the Obama Administration finally ready to stand up to the gun lobby? Since the midterm elections, the Administration has made two moves it must have known would draw heavy fire from the National Rifle Association.

So enforcing existing gun trafficking laws is "standing up to the NRA". I am in the NRA and have never read about this "opposition". The NRA may oppose this man because he wants to stop unregistered sales of firearms at gun shows. I oppose any gun registration of any kind so I agree with the NRA on this subject.

I also disagree with the Chief of Police about their stand on gun control. Places that have reduced controls by issuing Concealed Carry Permits to ordinary citizens have seen a decrease in violent assault and robberies. I do not believe any CCP should exist. I believe it is my choice to carry a weapon or not wherever I want to go so long as I am held responsible for any damage I, not the gun, does. It seems to me the Chiefs of Police want everyone to be disarmed without taking any responsibility for protecting the disarmed population from armed assault by criminals or the police. That is unacceptable.

You must be confused. Obama doesn't "stand up" to anybody, except progressives that donated to his campaign and worked tirelessly to help put him in office.

Perhaps Obama should stand up to ALL lobbyists, not just the NRA. I am a firearms owner and a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment but I also think that the US government is corrupted by lobbyists and they should be outlawed asap.

It is difficult for me to regard the NRA as a "lobby".

It is a group of citizens demanding the integrity of the Constitution, the Law of the Land.

The NRA isn't championing Remington or Browining.

Lobby? Lobby?

The NRA is a major lobbying group. Just look at how much they try to sway elections toward their candidate. But its not working like they had hoped. The campaigned heavily for McCain/Palin and lost by saying all of America would lose their weapons and ability to buy them if Obama won, they were wrong. I am sure they will spend tons more during 2012 for Republicans with the same message.

That said, I am all for gun rights and peoples ability to carry them. I am also for 30 waiting periods and background checks and stringent test to concealed carry's.
