Back to the OP's post, very good observations. America is on its way to a huge downfall.
Oh..puh-leeze. My mother was English. She came to the US and became a naturalized citizen by choice (and legally), so half my family is British, and I've spent quite a bit of time in Britain throughout my life.

Even today, Britain has a cast system. You're either part of the academic elite, or you're forced into a blue collar life. Here in the US, anyone can go to University, provided they work hard and achieve academically. You cannot say the same about the British system with A levels and O levels and family financial status. Here we believe in individual achievement as the discriminating factor, not who your father is or what grammar school you went to. Go ahead...tell me I don't know what I'm talking about.

Britain spends next to nothing on defense. Your unemployment has been routinely high for many years, with little economic expansion. Now your gov't has to impose austerity measures. Not saying I disagree with living within your means, but lets not hold up Britain as an example of economic achievement. The dole is a primary source of support for many. Racial tension in places like Oldham and B'ham are more the norm than the exception. Home grown Islamic radicals terrorize the British people. Taxes and cost of living are through the roof.

Please don't try to hold up Britain as any kind of example. You're just full of crap if you do. Oh...and you're welcome for bailing your butt out of two world wars plus the cold war.

We don't have A-levels, we have AP/IB. Many inner city schools do not have enough AP/IB classes to be seen as competitive to enter universities. Community colleges are not well funded in inner city areas to promote people to go into universities if they could initially enter.

In fact, the US has a worse wealth gap than Britain.

Taxes are not much higher than here in the States. Only 1 to 2 percentage points higher. We pay more per capita on governmental health spending, yet receive less than the typical Brit.

Have you heard of legacy status for university here? Well, that doesn't take into account individual achievement. You gain points solely on legacy.

As far as cost of living, many places in the US are more expensive than in Britain...only with less services and overall worse academic achievement standards.

I won't comment on Islamic radicals, since I truly do not know where you going with that point. I will say that in terms of racism, the US knows quite a bit about it. In fact, that's part of the reason why the wealth gap is so large.

Teabaggers called themselves that. Too bad you can't acknowledge that.

Of course I know what teabagging is, I have a delightfully diverse and fun sex life. Don't you?
You actually believe that, Don't you?

There is something about the public and political discourse in the USA that drives me MENTAL. It's all this talk of SOCIALISM. What a crock that is. How is it that tens of millions of people just don't have a single clue of what the heck they are talking about. NOBODY and I mean NOBODY in politics that I have ever heard speaking has ever advocated that the USA become a socialist country. All this talk about the socialist countries of western Europe is soooo stupid. They are not socialist but they are free market democracies. Cuba is socialist, North Korea is socialist and I suppose all you dipsticks that are crying "Socialism socialism, the sky is falling socialism" think that the democrats want the USA to become another Cuba?????.

If I sound a little angry here it's because I am. Somehow or other someone somehow has persuaded millions of idiots that anything done in a country to try to help the average man and his family live a better life and to have a more equitable share in the benefits of an extremely wealthy nation is a raging communist. I have almost givin up my lifelong interest in American politics because of the complete stupidity and baseless idiocy that goes for American public discourse today.

So many Americans are just like puppets. The puppet master pulls the strings and the puppets dance a ***. For most of my life it was the spector of communism that the puppet master used to control the people to make sure that they stayed in line, not demanding benefits and perks that citizens of the rest of the western democracies took for granted. Now communism is dead, kaput and gone so who's the enemy now??? "Oh Ho. I've got it and it's even better than the communists that were mostly an external threat. It's the liberals, Oh evil evil liberals and they are right here in our own backyard. Now what can we ascribe to those bad evil libs? I know, they are secretly socialists and they want to make the USA into a country like those we spent the last 50 years defeating. We won't have any trouble making at least 40% of the American public believe this because we know that they are so uninformed that they would believe anything we tell them to believe. And the beauty of it all is this, we get to keep all of out trillions of dollars that we allow American worker to make for us and we won't have to give them a raise or any better benefits because everyone will know that it's just the evil Socialists that are behind that idea. If however things really get out of hand and our workers can't be tricked any more we will just move everything to China where the workers behave like ours should."

So you're presenting an argument with no substance. You made the claim so the burden is on you. If you refuse to support your claim then it is by default invalid.

Maybe this is part of our Problems, too many citizens not proud to be Americans. Go figure yet you have those jumping the fence illegally to live in our Country from Mexico, a Country that does not give a rat's as- about their Citizens, and yet while still living in this Country illegally, and being treated like crap from their's they still proudly fly their mexican flag, something wrong with this picture.

Is their really any place to live where it is a perfect world, there is always going to be something in every Couuntry, that makes you not proud to be a citizen of that very Country, people are not perfect, so how can the Country be.

My husband when younger traveled and lived all over the place from Australia to Hong King, to Thailand, and other places as well, You do not appreciate what freedoms we still have, until you travel abroard, try in other Countries putting down the Government, openly and see what happens.

Very true we have choices, if you are not happy living and being a proud American, it is your choice to live, and experience the life in another Country, and if you like everything about that Country move there.

No State, and No Country, are going to be perfect, and tv like, while Human Beings are running the Governments, because People are not perfect, they surely make mistakes, and consider themselves before all others. But as much as you hate being an American, there are those flocking here who so appreciate being a newly legalized proud American.
