A gun crime in a gun-free zone in a heavily gun restricted state? Impossible!

I don't see how this comments helps. LA is only a few hours from Arizona, which has virtually no gun restrictions.

My condolences to the people of the city of Los Angeles, and the families of all those involved in this terrible event.

I can't imagine how much harm this does to the children. Then having to keep returning to the school after the incident is over, that must be difficult.

Except that it wasn't a 'gunman.' Apparently a student had a gun in his backpack, dropped the backpack and the gun went off.

You're right -- California should definitely repeal those laws that prohibit students from bringing firearms into the schools in their backpacks...

This sounds like a drummed up story. Let's see. A teacher has access to the student who was a supposed shooter all alone in a classroom and convinces him to cooperate with police? Something is NOT right with this. Why in the world would the police OR the school let a teacher go into a classroom with this guy before anyone even knew anything about what happened? I think the school is covering for the kid and in turn covering their own asses.
