This is really nothing but an interesting video about their most modern factory in the world. The most important part of it are the last few words about how they would like to build a plant like this in Dearborn and then the statement about why they haven't up to now.

Exactly, the unions are naturally going to be afraid of any sort of progress that results in their unemployment.

This is why I support globalization. It gives American companies like Ford an opportunity to diversify their workforce away from midwestern populists and protectionists, and gives them a shot to compete against global auto companies.

Making Ford cars in the USA and exporting them to Brazil, China, India or Russia to satisfy a growing demand, perish the thought.

It is obviously not a profitable idea, or they'd be doing it.

I believe Brazil uses alternate fuel so cars built here wouldn't work or vice versa.

Before I buy a car I'll check the UAW site to see if it is built here

Good deal. I'll check the price and if the factory uses the most efficient means possible to produce quality vehicles. Unfortunately, warm fuzzies don't power my car.

Yeah, ever since BMW and Mercedes started building in scab factories they have fallen to the bottom for quality, just like Hyundai

Hyundai revived themselves with the 10/100,000 warranty and that has led to a rebirth in quality and reliability, and they never needed a union. Definitely want to check out a Beemer after graduation.

Interesting that unions would refer to those who cross picket lines thinking of their families as "scabs". More interesting is the tactics they'll use to physically enforce obedience and unity.

It is bizzare, isn't it? Especially since BMW opened a plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to employ Americans, sometime in the 90's.

You should've heard some of the nasty things that union workers and bosses were saying about the aptitude of South Carolina workers, how they were incapable of learning, "scabs", et cetera. There was a tremendously negative reaction from the UAW, to BMW opening that plant in South Carolina, as if South Carolinians are less American, or less deserving of wages to feed their families too.

And then they expect all Americans to support their cause and their vehicles as being "patriotic" and pro-American. What a bunch of hypocrites.
