I lived in LA during the 1992 riots, we were under martial law. There was a curfew, supermarket shelves were going bare, the police were riding four cops to a car. Services were very limited.
Two years later was the Northridge earthquake, there was no power for a couple of days, no stores were open, you were on your own.
One was civil unrest and one was a natural disaster but the end results were the same.
I worked the '92 riots as an LAPD cop. I doubt even 5% of the people that were unexpectedly caught up in the chaos were prepared for what they were faced with.
Bad as it was it was just a bump in the road compared to a nationwide crisis. We were able to call on help from outside the area and were still barely able to cope with things. I'd hate to think of how bad it would have been had no help from outside been available.
My guess is we would find it easy to tell who on this board, spent all their money on Goldline.
My guess is that it would be pretty easy to tell who spent some of their money on other metals such as lead, brass, copper and blued steel. That will spend much better too.
Most people don't realize that grocery stores have about 3 days stock on the shelves under normal conditions. Interrupt the delivery chain for food/meds./fuel (not necessarily in that order) and things go down hill fast.
Very true.
It has happened to us because of snow.
I keep some powered milk in the emergency cabinet now.

All you would have to do is check to see who didn't have enough allowance left to build a fort in their backyard.
How many cat. 4 or higher hurricanes have you been through (directly impacted) in FL and are you suggesting you do absolutely nothing to be prepared in advance?
Massive solar flares could disable the grid for months, if not years. Without electricity western civilization comes to a halt and chaos follows.
