"what would happen if employment-based Affirmative Action ended?"

IF?

Compared to the 1970's and 80's it has all but disappeared.

Why still have it on the books then? Dissolve the program.

Dissolve a government funded program that appeals to a largely Democrat voting base? Are you daft???? Oh, the horror!

I agree, I see no reason why we need to put race down on a job application. Even though we have the option to say "decline to answer", there's no reason to even ask.

I agree...I am tired of filling out my 'race' on forms. Who the hell cares?

The hell they didn't!! My Mississippi born father made this quite clear to me. The most racist and spiteful white folks in that state when he was a boy were the poor and uneducated white folks...by far! They most certainly were embittered. Many were angry that blacks were hired in many jobs down there for less wages which hurt their own employment chances....as if black folks set the wages.

No one is forcing you to fill it out. I usually don't.

For example, when i open the classifieds and look at any given job, i can look at the qualifications if they're listed. No one without those prereq's will even bother to apply for the job (at least not if they have common sense). And if they do apply, they'll just get File 13'd.

So let's say they line up 20 candidates for an interview....that's pretty much the end of what you know about the process. Beyond the interview, you aren't privy to anything else. They might want someone with more experience, or younger with less experience. There are all types of things that come into play that you have no idea about. Maybe they WANT to hire some minorities! That IS the right of a company to do. They aren't forced to do that....there is no proof that the government forces any company to do it.

As i said in an earlier post, most jobs are found by networking and the "who you know" system....which is just another form of AA. We've all benefitted from it at some time or another. Everyone on C-D who's a wage earner works in a job that someone can deem another person to be more qualified for. Folks around here just want to flatter themselves.
lmao- You have absolutely no idea what I do or where I work. Here's a few I know of without even searching.......

Gee who knows. Maybe people would be hired on the basis of content of character and not the color of their skin. Where have I heard that?

I don't give a damn about where you work or what you do. My guess is that you're a working stiff just like the rest of us. In fact, i'm sure of it.

Besides, if you want to show me something, you could at least get me a few links from some non-biased sources. I mean...Politico? LOL...yea. Ok.
