Dude, this is not mediamatters or moveon. No need to keep up with the $, fascist, dictator, tyrant, nazi, reich, double speak that has nothing to back it up but rhetoric. BTW, your liberal buddies had assesed Iraq as a HUGE threat 2 years before W entered the oval office, too bad they all have amnesia now along with the far lefty media and blogosphere.

How dare you try to infringe on the self described role of our fearless leader as the "DECIDER"? He is showing the courage of his convictions and "Staying The Course"...(you could train a chimp to do the same thing, but that would be an unkind comparison to our Commander in Chief.)

I'm an air force veteran. I realize we do have an all volunteer force, but things just are not that simple. Many join the military because they need money and can't find a job. Huge numbers of enlistees join to learn a skill. But when thier enlistments are up they frequently find themselves stuck at an overseas base somewhere with a wife and kids. Which makes it pretty hard to find a job stateside. We may in fact have an all volunteer military force, but for many, it's the very last place they want to be. Besides, what are they supposed to do? Seperate in Germany or England, transport their families back to America, look for a place to live, and then find a job? I know it sounds easy, but it's not. When you are responsible for taking care of a family it's much easier to reenlist, even if it means you have to risk getting shot at or getting your legs blown off by a IED.

Here in Florida, The Post is running the ongoing
saga of some poor kid who is fighting his fifth
non-volunteer tour of Iraq. FIVE TIMES !!!!
After the fourth, which he was sure was his last,
he got married and started college courses.
He asked if he could have a break, hes done more
than his share and was told F-U by the Army...
Show up or face punishment.

Volunteer army......no way.
There might be a few in the military who support this
nonsense but the only people I have seen in real life who
support it are people who will only see the war on Tv and
cheerlead from their computer.
I have nothing but sympathy for these people who are getting robbed
of their lives for nothing more than shameless corporate profit.

this liberal and his friends have absolutely zero "amnesia" as to how we assessed the "threat" of iraq back in 2003:

How nasty! Comparing a chimp to the current president is an insult...to the chimp.

Thats awesome. So once again, how did all of this become Bush's "invention"? Surely those people in the 2003 photo still could remember all the way back to 1998/1999 when Clinton was making the same statements regarding the threat of Iraq.

clinton was smart enough not to start a ground war with little international support.

As a former VOLUNTARY member of the Armed Forces who was very happy with my service and got exactly what I was promised (no more no less) I am disgusted with the condescending attitude of MOST of the people in this thread toward the VOLUNTARY members of the military. We are not a bunch of uneducated poverty stricken dolts who are coerced into something we are too "simple" to understand. I read my contract when I signed up and if you can read you have no excuse for saying you didn't know what you were getting into. (And you must be able to read to join!) Have any of you read the enlistment oath?

The Oath of Enlistment (for enlistees):

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

The Oath of Office (for officers):

"I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God."

I have nothing else to say that won't get me in trouble with the Moderators so I'm gone!

Please tell your son thank you from me and that I am very proud of him and his buds!

As a parent, after they eliminated the draft, I was thankful I would never send a son to war; yet I said goodbye to him for two deployments to Iraq. As I stood crying and holding him, he told me that if any thing happened to him, know he died doing what he believed in.

We sent many care packages for basic necessities and items for the Iraq children. How can we comprehend children in a classroom, which consists of a blackboard, and the entire class shares one pencil? Or a child that has never had a toy? Or the Iraqi family that invited soldiers to dinner, when they had little to feed their own?

Our sons and daughters join the military for many reasons: financial, education, benefits and some because they know the American people live in the greatest country in the world, with all it's flaws and incompetent government and want to keep it free.

If our forefathers had not shed their blood on foreign soil and fought for our freedom, we wouldn't be able to speak our minds here.
