Israel fears loss of a crucial ally with Mubarak's fall - CSMonitor.com

Quote:
''If there is a free election I don't see how they can be stopped,'' says Eli Shaked, former Israeli ambassador to Egypt. The Brotherhood's success, he says, would boost Islamists throughout the region, including in Jordan, where antigovernment protests have been inspired by the protests against Mubarak.
''The Muslim Brotherhood has already said they won't be committed to the peace treaty. I don't see a military conflict with Israel. But the whole regional order of the last 30 years will be totally shattered,'' Shaked says.
''If the Muslim Brotherhood comes out so successfully in Egypt, it will boost other Muslim brotherhoods in Jordan and the West Bank. Then Jordan is in trouble, even Syria might find itself under threat. The domino effect might impact also on Saudi Arabia,'' he says.

We can only hope so.

Israel and the USA hope these Monarchs and Dictators remain in power so they can more easily control them.

All this talk about promoting Democracy is pure B.S.

You can see from the threads in this forum...trying to scare people about Democratic reforms in the Middle East.

If Jordan falls then it will be up to the United States alone to support Israel as they will be surrounded by enemies on all sides (except, perhaps Afghanistan and Iraq since they are supported by the U.S.)

Lebanese, Jordanians, and Egyptians OH MY!

Lebanese, Jordanians, and Egyptians OH MY!!!

As for Afghanistan and Iraq... perhaps you should ask for a world map for your next birthday.

By the way, the two main Shiite parties in control of Iran, were based, trained and supplied by the Iranians during their years in exile when they were just major para-military organizations.

Gee Oliver, another fine mess you've got me in!

No, actually you should ask for a reading comprehension textbook for YOUR birthday.

I didn't say that Iraq or Afghanistan BORDERED Israel.

Those two, volatile countries exist IN THE REGION (or put another way, they help to SURROUND Israel).

If you don't think that Israel feels surrounded by not only the countries that border their land but also by Muslim countries IN THE REGION then you should also ask for a "History of the State of Israel" textbook for YOUR birthday as well.

BS. Israel can defend themselves. Lets stop aid to all countries in the middle east including Israel. If the UN wants to get involved, fine, but it is time to stop playing world peace keepers... we are broke.
