Too bad he didn't donate to a cause that doesn't discriminate based on sexuality.
Homeless shelter, food bank etc.

But then there would be no story to tell.

Too bad they HAVE to provide services like this, due to the discrimination that exists nationwide... that's what is really sad. Wasn't there a thread about a homeless shelter that didn't allow homosexuals? I seem to remember all the "anti gay" folks defending them, and saying they have a right to serve (or not serve) who they choose. Oh, but that would be hypocritical - and nobody on this forum is EVER a hypocrite, right?

Btw, most of these organizations don't actually discriminate, they just specialize in services to GLBT communities... if anyone in need asked for help, I can pretty much guarantee they would (I'm quite familiar with "gay organizations," having lived in San Francisco for a long time). I mean, how would they prove your sexuality anyway? Make you kiss somebody of the same sex in front of them?

SO TRUE! So many people on this forum are self serving hypocrites. They're are for "free enterprise" a/k/a freedom to discriminate. As soon as they come across an organization like the HRC, they cry "Discrimination!". It's funny how if it was any other organization fighting for any other group of people, this would be a heart warming story. Now, the brilliant posters have turned this child and his mother into something evil.

This is wrong to steal a child's early years for a propaganda stunt for the explicit purpose of bringing it to the attention of the CA media.
Wow, change the gay-related words to "religious evangelists and fundamentalists" and I totally agree with you.

Not that far-fetched, actually. My kids are the same and they went to elementary school in West Virginia.
Excellent point!

What a wonderful gesture on Malcom's part and what a compassionate and intelligent young gentlemen. Our youth are simply amazing.....before our society begins to influence them with hate rhetoric..

Man are you obssessed with gay rights and gay wrongs aren't you? Do you ever think of anything else? As for his choice, I am sure, at 7, he knew what the gay center was all about.

Well without knowing more it's either:
1. He's extremely educated in social justice
or
2. His mom is out for a story

Seems like it's 50/50 with no details.

at 7, you did not choose to give to a gay group nor did you know what the term stood for. This doesn't mean he didn't have a mind but I doubt he had any idea of the true nature of the group.
