A then-12 year old Severn Suzuki addresses the United Nations at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992.
Breathtaking. I was literally moved to tears. What an incredible young woman. The looks on the faces of the members in attendance can best be described as ashamed. Too bad our leaders haven't taken heed of her powerful words.
I used to think that politicians were keen on fixing things. Then I grew up. They won't fix something that, while broken, helps their political cause which typically involves personal gains, social gains, financial gains and ideological advancement.
Or they actually roll back protections and start unnecessary wars. Or continue wars we should long ago have gotten the hell out of. Or refuse to so much as acknowledge that even if 100% of scientists don't agree on every detail, that we can do more to change how much pollution we're pumping into our environment, and that no matter what else, that would be a good thing. Or provide real solutions to impoverished nations so they can thrive without decimating the environment around them. And I'm talking about leaders of all industrialized nations, not just the U.S. It's shameful that we're even worse off now than we were 18 years ago when this child addressed her elders and asked why they do all the things they teach us not to do in kindergarten!

Barf. Trotting out a child to be used by politicians and activists makes my skin crawl. Eco-wackos have never been able to argue their case to the public based on the facts (even when they make up the facts) so now they are full bore into 'appeal to emotion' mode. Disgusting. Reprehensible.
I have an idea for all you warmers. If you all think carbon dioxide is so bad for the environment, why don't you all just stop breathing? Put your money where your mouth is. Until then you're just a bunch of bold-faced liars and hypocrites.
You didn't actually watch the video either, did you?
I would ignore someone whose brain has all the signs of being fed more CO2 than oxygen.
