I doubt this will ever make it to foxnews, CNN, MSNBC or any other mainstream news outlet. While everyone goes argues over head stompings,
and 'feel good' non-issue BS most of you will not likely hear of these types of issues.

"Three polling places are to be removed from this reservation in ND.

The Benson County Board of Commissioners, which oversees the county that includes reservation lands, decided this election season to close three polling places in the tribe’s three-precinct vicinity.

Commissioners rationalized their decision, saying there is a high cost to operating the polling places, including training and paying staff.

In response, tribal leaders offered to provide funds to recruit and train workers, and said the county could use facilities that would be rent-free.

The commission refused the tribe’s offer, saying that costs would still be too high, and that mailed ballots would be cheaper."

This is the injunctin the tribe filed and they have a damned good reason for filing it.

I was going to say the same. Only in statement form.

Another feather in the 'hat' of America.

Thank you to the OP for bringing this to the surface.

If they are given ballots to mail in then what is the problem? They aren't being denied an opportunity to vote.

There is no law that says a polling place must be provided. Just that a person has the opportunity to vote. Which these people are.

It's always been those who work for the government that screwed us over, and over, and over.

The article and the injunction both state that many didn't receive the ballots that were supposed to be mailed.

They may be within the law, that is true, but with the poverty rate as high as it is on the rez, the county officials know many have no transportation in a rural area. They also know that by mailing in ballots it creates extra variables where things can go wrong. 'no ballot received'; 'mail doesn't get there on time', etc., etc., etc.

I do remember how many of our military got cheated out of voting. That too is wrong.

This is 100% an attempt to disenfranchise a group of voters who are already on the edge. The county knows exactly what they did and why they did it.

I just appreciate that a few more people will be aware by reading it on here.

And for good reason...

I don't wish to downplay the issue or dismiss the importance of the issue, BUT this is about Benson Couty, North Dakota population of 6,910 voters. There are voting irregularities in precincts of major media markets with far more voters involved that don't make the national news.
