When studies have shown that increased Federal Spending does NOT result in better educated students. And, we are supposed to be reducing our budget; not adding to our deficit. at this time.
"Since 1985, federal education spending tripled, yet studies by the National Assessment of Educational Progress show reading, math and science scores remained flat. Internationally, our 8th graders rank 14th in reading, 17th in science and 25th in math. Almost 30 percent of our teenagers don't finish high school, according to the National Center for Education Statistics, and half who enter college drop out, even though per pupil spending nationally averages more than $10,000 a year. America has fallen to 9th in the proportion of young people with a college degree."
"Despite those numbers, most educators say American schools are under-funded."

Couldn't have said it better. We should give each student a $20,000 voucher to be used at the school of their choice. Course the unions would be against this, because it would jeopardize their cushy union jobs even though they are ineffective teachers for the most part.
Liberals don't like school vouchers because it threatens the teachers' unions' existence. But but but, wonderful, progressive Belgium does school vouchers! And their kids leave ours in the dust!

No they are not. That's BS. Everyone, except Democrat voters, know that
We spend more on everything now and I don't think we get anything more for the money, including education, defense, social services, etc. I would much rather the government spend money on education right now than on so many other stupid things. Education is a top priority. Throwing money at it is not, however.

Yeah, that's why 5-8 of the elementary and middle schools in Sequoia School District (RWC) and the neighboring school district in EPA have closed in the last 5 years (the same area that Waiting for Superman was filmed). And its also the reason my old school got rid of its middle school because of disorganization caused by severe budget cuts. Yup, pure BS.
Obama wants to grow government, and in particular Federal Government, as big as possible. He wants to consolidate all power in Washington at the expense of state and local governments.
He believes the Federal Government should tell us how to live our lives and control as much as possible.
So increasing education spending is right up his alley.
