A thermal imaging project in the city of Boston has been put on hold because of privacy concerns.
Boston officials had hoped to have aerial and street-level photos taken across about four square miles of the city this winter using infrared cameras that would show heat loss in the city homes.
…
But, the project hit a snag when the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts raised concerns that the infrared cameras would reveal information about what’s going on inside the homes. Sagewell’s cameras can take up to 20,000 images of homes per day.
More loss of privacy in the name of safety and efficiency.
I would love to have that technology for my house so that I could fix the problems.
I really don't like paying utility companies for wasted utilities.
An independent outside party can be contracted by you to do thermal imaging of your home.
Those who don't want one shouldn't have their rights infringed upon.
Government needs to stay out of the efficiency biz.

Make the **** legal and there goes one of their main reasons.
I own some rural acerage for recreational/hunting use and a neighbor of mine had his 80 acres seized for growing 140 pot plants. His crops were discovered during a random flyover.
I don't smoke pot, but stealing that mans property over some plants was downright criminal.

Even worse the DEA raided a reservation, technically sovereign land, several years ago as a tribe was attempting to grow a cash crop of industrial hemp which the DEA even admitted lacked the ability to get anyone stoned. Guess they felt a compulsion to play with their little helicopters and other toys.
