I long for healthy debate on issues that do not lead to personal attacks, slander, unsubstantiated claims and plain ignorance of all the issues at hand in this modern world. What do people think?

I consider this an attack on conservatives.

Well maybe I am just getting a response from people calling themselves conservatives who just want to "troll". But there are alot of people claiming conservatism, who do not argue the issue but start personally attacking political figures, scientists, and anyone who differs in opinion from them.

I am absolutely sure that's true. I'm just as sure that it's also true on the other side.

Then I guess you are a conservative based on some of your presented criteria. Good to know.

The self-contradicting irony of a thread title such as yours is good for a laugh. Nothing more. You state something quite tendentious and subjective as 'fact' and then bemoan a lack of debate? Are you kidding me?

Real conservatives and for the most part any other party affiliation you can usually have a decent debate with, but It is very difficult to have any kind of conversation with those on the radical right. They just name call, attack, threaten, harass, twist and deflect the topic, hijack threads when things are not going their way..etc I don't think those on the hard right have the intelligence or mental capability to hold an honest discussion.

Good point. I have fallen into the pit of labeling and grouping people together only because in my sample space, I have encountered a majority of people who have labeled themselves Conservatives, who insult rather than argue..... lesson learned! I totally agree that this may not be the case.
